YOU’RE INVITED
Sometimes all we need is a little spark to begin.
I’ve been thinking a lot about my own art practice lately, and I’ve noticed something.
So much of what I create begins in these small pockets of time in the studio. A few marks in a sketchbook. A quick drawing. Playing with a new color palette. Picking up an idea I started a few days ago and adding just a little more.
Nothing terribly grand or precious.
But these little studio sessions have a way of building upon one another. One mark leads to another. A quick sketch becomes the beginning of a painting. A color palette sparks a completely new idea. And before I know it, I’ve filled a sketchbook or found myself standing in front of a new body of work.
And that got me thinking…what if I could share a little bit of that same little spark with you each month?
Something small. Something inspiring. Something that simply gives you a reason to wander into your studio and begin.
And voilà…Studio Invitations + Studio Sessions were born.

The Content we’re exploring This Month is A Drawing Lesson From Floret - Expressive Floral Sketch | Part 1

In this first session, we'll slow down and really look at a flower, the parts that interest us, the shapes the light creates across the petals, the tiny details, and even the way the flower bends and moves.
Then, I invite you to find a flower that interests you. Photograph it, tuck the image into your sketchbook, and spend a few days drawing it. Draw it more than once. Notice something different each time. Let your curiosity lead the way.
No pressure to create a finished piece of art. Just observe, sketch, experiment, and enjoy a little moment in time making your art.
